Learn More About WindSmart Systems

Have a roof-related question? We have the answer! Check out these FAQs to learn more about WindSmart Systems and our services.

  • What is a wind vented roof system?

A wind vented roof system uses the destructive wind uplift forces to achieve wind-resistant, higher-performing, low-slope commercial roofs. Additionally, through a process of controlled air exchange, the system can be applied to remove entrapped moisture from new and existing roof assemblies.

  • What is a good roof system for a large commercial roof?

A WindSmart wind vented roof system is ideal for a large commercial roof. It is weather-resistant, cost-effective, good for the environment, and more! If you have additional questions, give us a call.

  • What is a wind resistant commercial roof?

Weather-resistant roofs require a combination of proper configuration, quality materials, and professional installation. The WindSmart System can be designed to achieve very high weather protection from wind, rain, and hail. To hear more about the benefits of a wind vented roofing system, visit our "Key Benefits" page.

  • How does a vented roof system work?

Wind moving across a loose laid roof membrane draws air through vents installed on the roof's surface, from the space between the membrane and the airtight substrate below it. As the air is pulled from this space, a vacuum is created, and the resulting suction holds the loose membrane against the substrate, preventing it from blowing off under wind load. For more inquiries about how a wind vented roof system works, don't be hesitant to call!

  • What are the benefits of wind vented roofs?

The key benefits of a wind vented roof are as follows:

    • Entrapped Moisture Removal: A roof that can remain dry long term.
    • Sustainability Strategy: Eliminates wasteful practice of continual roof assembly tear-off.
    • Highly Weather-Resistant: Greater protection from wind and weather elements.

  • What is WindSmart?

WindSmart is a manufacturer of a wind vented roof system, committed to being the recognized market leader in air-sealed, pressure-equalized (wind vented) commercial roof assemblies in North America.

  • How do you remove entrapped moisture from a commercial roof?

A wind vented roof system keeps the roof assembly dry by removing entrapped moisture from new and existing roof assemblies.

  • What is a sustainable, wind vented roof?

The vent system's ability to remove entrapped moisture allows existing and new roof assembly materials to remain dry and reusable. By keeping roof assemblies dry and in place, future tear-off can be avoided, resulting in the highest level of roof sustainability.

  • Are WindSmart vented roof systems hurricane resistant?

WindSmart's wind vented roofing system has achieved some of the highest reported wind uplift capabilities within the roofing industry. WindSmart has developed standardized processes to achieve high wind uplift capabilities.

  • Can commercial roofs be installed without adhesive or fasteners?

WindSmart's wind vented roof system will minimize fastening and adhesive requirements, which provides easier installation especially on difficult-to-fasten-to decks (i.e. concrete, tectum, gypsum).
